Denzel Washington Helps Homeless Man Evade Oncoming Traffic
Denzel Washington is a hero in real life.
While out in West Hollywood, Denzel Washington observed a homeless man wandering in the street. In video footage obtained by TMZ, the Oscar Winning actor can be seen pulling over in his vehicle to stop and assist the man who was in danger of being struck by oncoming traffic.
Washington reportedly helped the man to safety and provided him with food and drink until police arrived. The police initially detained the man, whose name is unknown, but he was later released TMZ reports.
The generosity doesn’t end there. He and his wife of over 30 years, Pauletta, have been known to extend a helping hand to those in need. He has been credited to mentoring Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. Power star, Omari Hardwick, has spoken out on several times to commend the Washington family for assisting him when was starting out with his acting career.
Hardwick was working as a substitute teacher and high school football coach where the Washington’s eldest son attended. Hardwick fell on hard times after a role on a television series didn’t work out. The Washington’s provided him with a temporary place to stay and also helped him purchase a vehicle.
Denzel is a long-time spokesperson for the Boys and Girls Club of America, where he admits he spent most of his time as an youngster. He and Pauletta both have also been active with fundraising for Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for more than two decades.
